The beginning...
Gerd Kampffmeyer, who as civil engineer traveled around nearly the whole world, has brought regionally typical wooden spoons from his visits and travels abroad, so that the collection could be considered to be the largest and comprehensive one of the world.
He found spoons at strangest places and probably took some out of bowls and pots.

Unfortunately, he found that valuable and high-quality pieces become rarer and rarer and that experienced spoon carvers are becoming extinct. Not to forget natural enemies of wood: fire, mould, rottenness, insects and worms.
